Identity Management at the University of Oregon

Phase One - Summer 2007

Phase One will focus on behind the scenes, and infrastructure changes. In the most general sense, it will involve replacing the older, home grown Authorize System, with a more robust, newer Identity Management layer. The new system will take over username and password management tasks, as well as basic resource provisioning. Username and password authentication for provisioned resources will happen against an LDAP directory server.

The first resources to be managed include:

• Email
• Shell Access
• Wireless Network Access
• Blackboard
• Dial Up Access
• VPN

Phase Two - Fall 2008

Phase Two will focus on providing central authentication services through a Web Sign-on system for both central and departmental web applications.

It will also include provisioning and management of additional resources by the central Identity Management system. This is likely to include resources such as Banner, Appworx, Document Imaging and Active Directory.
